My Pineapple Upside Down Cake

"Today I made a pineapple upside down cake because it was my momma's birthday and we wanted to make something we never made before. It was really fun and really easy. We used pineapples, brown sugar, lots of hot butter, pineapple juice, cake mix (Duncan Hines Pinapple Supreme), and 2 eggs. We baked it in a bundt pan. I think a bundt pan looks like a hat. First we put in the butter and brown sugar. Then we put the pinapples in and then the cake batter last. We baked it for 50 minutes and then it came out beautiful! My momma had to flip it upside down because it was too heavy for me. We ate it after we sang Happy Birthday to her. It was good.

My Letter to the Cake Boss

Today Savanna wrote a letter to Buddy Valastro, the Boss at Carlo's Bakery!

"Dear Buddy,
My name is Savanna and I am 5 years old. I like Cake Boss and it made me want to bake cakes. I made a wacky cake and it was delicious! I like baking. I like your big family. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister. I want to go to your bakery someday (maybe today!). See you later, alligator!

My Pumpkin & Banana Bread

"Today I made pumpkin bread and banana bread. I made them for Thanksgiving with my mommy and my brother. I liked that we got to taste the batter. It was really, super good! We put lots and lots of flour in it and it made it hard to stir. My mommy told me that when she was a little girl her mommy had to help her stir just like she helped me. I liked making the bread but the one thing I liked the best was eating it!! It was fun to make but everyday you make a cake or bread is fun!"

My Wacky Cake

"Today I made Wacky Cake. I liked that it uses a lot of chocolate! It was my first chocolate cake from scratch. Wacky cake is different than other cakes because you poke holes in the ingredients and you pour butter, vinegar, and vanilla in the holes. The batter bubbles! I frosted it with really good whipped cream. I cut strawberries all by myself for the first time and used them to decorate the cake. It looked like a face with a necklace around it. We took it to the potluck at church and everybody thought it was good! They knew it was my cake."

My Despicable Cupcakes

"Today my friend, Maddi, and I made yellow cupcakes with blue frosting. Then we cut Twinkies in half and stuck them to the cupcakes. We were making the Minions from the movie 'Despicable Me.' My cousins came over and helped make their faces. We used Sweeties candy for eyes, black gel for the glasses and smile, and chocolate sprinkles for hair. They were so cute and it was fun!"

My Purple Velvet Cake

"Today I made a purple velvet cake. I wanted it to be purple since everyone else makes red. It was hard to make and used alot of ingredients. The cake didn't look purple, it was so dark it looked almost black. We also made cream cheese frosting. My dad said the frosting was the best part. We decorated it with chocolate chips. It tasted good but my mom and I think it was a little bland."

My Awesome Apple Cake

"Today I made an apple cake. I cut up apples and boiled them with butter, sugar, and cinnamon. It smelled good! I used a vanilla cake mix for the base. Then we covered the batter with cooked apples and cinnamon-sugar. We drizzled glaze over it after it was baked. My mommy and daddy said it was their favorite!!!"

My Spice Cupcakes

"Today I made Spice Cupcakes with homemade pumpkin and hazelnut frosting! I used pumpkin spice candy kisses, pumpkin candy corns, and fall colored sprinkles to decorate the cupcakes. My mom took them to a ladies WMU meeting at church and they all loved them! I thought they were nice!"

My Fondant Cake

"Today I made a fun-fetti cake from a box. We did not have enough time to make it from scratch because we had to roll out fondant! This was our first time using fondant and it was hard! I wanted to make a face on the cake to look like a flower girl. We used butter cream frosting and white, pink, yellow, and purple fondant. It turned out cute even though everything went wrong! It was still fun to make :) "

My Rooster Cake

"Today I made my first homemade cake from scratch! It was a family recipe for pound cake. I used 2/3 cup shortening, 2/3 cup milk, flour, baking powder, sugar, lemon extract, salt, and eggs. I also added a secret ingredient. It has to bake for along time. I drew a rooster for our design. It had 7 colors! We put some strawberry jam in between the layers and iced the rooster. We added grass with green frosting. It turned out so cute and my daddy said it was 'Fantastic'!"

My First Cake

"Today I made a yellow cake. We used 3 eggs, 1 cup of water, and 1/3 cup of oil. I used 2 round cake pans and baked them for 23 minutes at 350*. My mom and brother helped. We cut out shapes for eyes and a beak. We used blue, orange, white, and brown frosting. When we put it all together, it looked like Perry the Platypus from Phineas and Ferb! We wrote "Agent P" with green frosting. I think it looks nice."
